What's new
Some of this applies to every business, some depends on how you sell. Skip ahead to whatever's useful for yours.
Start backing up immediately
Opening N91CE for the first time now asks where to keep your books: your device only, your own Google Drive, or backed up with N91CE for now.
Bank reconciliation catches more of the messy stuff
- Import the same bank statement twice by accident? N91CE flags it the moment it happens.
- Matched a transaction wrong? Un-reconcile it and try again.
- A withdrawal from a bank import now gets a suggested category based on the transaction itself — the supplier or merchant name. Change it before you confirm, if it's wrong.
- N91CE now checks your reconciled balance against your bank statement's own closing balance, and flags it the moment they don't agree.
Two new reports
A new Aged Receivables & Payables report groups every unpaid invoice and bill by how overdue it is — current, a bit late, well overdue. Find it under More → Aged Receivables & Payables, right beside General Ledger. Export it to CSV or PDF the same way you already export other reports.
Your Balance Sheet now shows this year alongside last year on the same page.
Assets — depreciation and disposals, handled for you
- Bought a laptop, van, or oven for the business? N91CE already worked out its depreciation for tax purposes (called capital allowance) for your Form B. Now that same figure also shows up properly in your Balance Sheet — an asset's value declines as it depreciates.
- Sell or write off an asset and N91CE now records that properly too.
- Already owned equipment, or had a loan, before you started using N91CE? Add what it originally cost you (or what you still owe on the loan) once, dated when you actually bought or borrowed it — N91CE picks up the depreciation and payments from there.
Fixing mistakes without starting over
- Bill was wrong after you'd already paid part of it? Correct it, or raise a partial credit.
- A customer paid you more than they owed? N91CE parks the extra as credit and lets you apply it to their next invoice.
Barcode scanning gets faster — and works without a barcode too
If you already scan barcodes at checkout, a connected barcode gun now scans straight into the cart without opening the scanner screen each time — point, scan, next customer. And if your products don't have a barcode of their own (handmade or repackaged goods), N91CE can now generate one and print ready-to-stick labels, or export the codes as a CSV for your own label software.
Bills: a PDF works now, and government fees are split correctly for tax
- Bills now accept a PDF — useful when a supplier emails you an invoice.
- SSM registration and renewal fees are a normal cost of doing business — deductible. A late fee, penalty, or compound isn't. N91CE now keeps them in separate categories automatically, so your Form B doesn't undercount what you're allowed to claim.
Smaller but real
- Catalogue search, plus group products by category — easier to manage a long product list.
- Every form on N91CE now scrolls straight to the field you missed.
- Discounts at checkout now show up as their own line in your books.
Notes
Versions. This update covers everything shipped since our last post on 9 July. N91CE is now on v1.2.0.
Also fixed. More than 30 smaller bugs closed in this same batch — timezone edge cases in financial dates, one bug that could have caused silent data loss in backup sync, and a security hardening pass on your exported reports.
If N91CE looks out of date. Open More and tap "Not seeing the latest version? Tap to refresh" near the bottom. Still stuck? Hard-refresh your browser — Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) — or on phone, close the tab or app fully and reopen it. This happens because N91CE runs offline-first. Your browser keeps a local copy so it still works without a signal. That copy can lag a version behind right after something new ships.
